Who Says Jams Are Just For Toast?

Updated: Aug 23, 2021

When you think of jam, you might visualize it as a product you spread on toast, add to a peanut butter sandwich, a cracker or melba toast. When I think of jam, I visualize the joy of a new creation for a delightful sauce or savoury dessert. Whenever I go to a unique shop, I end up buying a jam, jelly or chutney with the intent that I am going to create something wonderful for the next time I have someone over for dinner. Thinking up new combinations lures me in and my mind begins concocting all the different dishes I could make. Needless to say, between the endless amounts of jams and jellies I make personally at Exotic Jelly or buying at unique venues, I know I have to do something with them. Using my unique gourmet jams and jellies is a fast and easy way to create delicious sauces for a savory meal or a delightful filling for any dessert. How I come up with various recipes is an art. When I put together a jelly or jam sauce, I’ll just throw ingredients together until the sauce tastes right, and I encourage you to do the same. But keep in mind your preserves will need some acid (wine, vinegar or citrus etc.) to balance out the sauce. Make sure you know exactly what you’re putting in and how much, so you can repeat the recipe in the future. Try some of the recipes I have placed online and if you have some of your own, please send them to me and I will be happy to add them in the collection. Have a jelly good day! Niagara farm Girl.
