We have all walked passed a bake shop and wished we could make a decadent cake like the ones we see in the window. Well I am going to let you in on a little secret DUNCAN HINES. What? Yes!! That’s what I said. By adding a few extra ingredients you too can have a mouth- watering cake, which tastes like you made it from scratch. Baking has never been this easy or delicious. No one will ever know you cheated and used a boxed cake.
These little tricks definitely make a box cake taste like it came from a bakery. Most bakeries do not bake from scratch. They start with a box cake the same as you buy from the grocery store.
Here are some of my favourite tricks.
Most cake mixes add water. Try adding buttermilk instead (if trying this you will need a 1/4 cup more buttermilk than the directions call for.) This will make your cake immediately taste rich and creamy. Definitely a sign of homemade.
You can also try adding a box of instant pudding to match the cake mix flavour. It makes the cake taste moist as well as boosting the flavour.
Adding an extra egg to each cake mix and using milk instead of water, will make the cake taste more like homemade. After adding the extra ingredients follow the instructions on the box.
Now the real yumminess!!!!
Make two layers of cake, after they are baked, spread Raspberry Lavender Jam in between layers. Then sprinkle the top with icing sugar.
