The name might cause you to miss this perfect gem, but don’t be confused. When you step in, the smell of the fresh baked scones is the first tell-tale there is something more happening. The owner Michelle is there to greet you with a warm welcome. It’s like you are running into an old friend. In the back of the ice cream parlour there is the amazing Lavender Tea Room. Walking in to the vintage décor with the beautiful tea cups, each telling a story of their own. This is where the delightful experience begins. My friend Bonnie and I ordered the Afternoon Tea which was served on a three –tiered stand perfect for observing the course order in high tea room fashion. We choose a pot of Earl Grey Classic Tea. If you are not a fan of tea YOU WILL become a new tea enthusiast. The afternoon tea was severed by Clara who is the most delightful girl. The yummy tea sandwiches, and freshly baked scones served with clotted cream and preserves was beyond mouth-watering. Next was fresh fruit and some irresistible sweets. One was a Lemon Lavender Loaf that I didn’t share with Bonnie after one bite it was all mine. I was very excited that I had brought samples of my gourmet jams and jelly. Michelle took time to sample some of the flavours even though they were extremely busy, doing a witches tea party for Halloween. It wasn’t long before an order was placed and some of the jellies were added to their menu and are available in the shop. So, for me, high tea is so worth the experience. If you haven’t had the pleasure, “it’s high time you go to high tea!” So grab a friend and head out to 39 King St E, Stoney Creek, ON L8G 1J9.
