2 cups of flour

¼ cup sugar

½ teaspoon salt

1 ½ tablespoon baking powder

1 egg

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

¼ cup of melted butter

vegetable oil for frying


Spread out some paper towel on a baking sheet and set aside. Pour oil into a heavy bottom pan and heat. Adjust heat level as needed.

Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt, in a large mixing bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk milk, egg and vanilla. Pour wet ingredients with dry and stir together for a few seconds with a wooden spoon. Add melted butter and stir mixture until it forms a thick batter.

Once the oil has reached 350F, drop tablespoon of batter into hot oil, add eight doughnuts at a time and fry 2 min. for each side. Remove and let sit on cookie sheet with the paper towel, which you set aside.

Add different flavours of jelly such as Blueberry Lavender, Lemon Grass, Apple Rose Geranium, or Vanilla Pear. You can roll hot doughnuts in sugar if desired.
